Montreal Jewelry Designers | The Latest Jewelry Designs Are At Designs By Erika
THE HISTORY OF DESIGNS BY ERIKA
The beauty and purpose of jewelry has captivated Erika since childhood. She began as a teenager selling beads in an up-scale bead boutique where she was given the freedom to design for her customers. Her fascination with jewelry continued, moving to silver smithing, designing and producing her first silver ring in 1993. From there, Erika began to work at the jeweler’s bench of renowned jeweler, artist and metal smith, the late Enid Kaplan. Wanting to learn and explore more, Erika enrolled at The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) in New York City where she earned the title of Graduate Gemologist. She then moved to California to apprentice under a former Van Clef and Arpel designer. Her other designations include Graduate Jeweler Gemologist with Design and Wax Diploma, CAD/CAM Design Certificates, Master Value Appraisal Certificate, and others specific to the fine jewelry industry.
Erika travels extensively attending jewelry trade shows worldwide as well as seeking design inspiration from visits throughout North America, Europe and Asia. Her work can be seen at the McCord Museum in Montreal, Canada. She has also produced a bracelet sold to raise funds for breast cancer research as well as other original pieces for other charities. |
